1.What do you do for a living?
My primary job is international investment . I am a full time financial consultant holding my position as director investment & Acquisition in one of the leading investment company in UAE. .
In my free time I pursue modelling. Although more as a hobby, I consider it my second career.
2.How would you describe what you do?What does your work entail?
In finance What I do is handling financial portfolios of HNI & UHNI clients across the globe . My job is to evaluate financial need of people and advise them to invest internationally to broaden diversification and spread investment risk among foreign markets and companies.On the other hand when it comes to modelling Its mostly brand shoots, Magazine editorial shoots , short films etc.
3.What’s a typical work week like?
Typical week starts with planning the week ahead. Heading to work and prioritising my assignments for that week. In office hold meetings regarding the assignments with associated staff and rest of the week is spent executing my plans.
On weekends I schedule my shoots that can start early in the morning and last all the way till evening.
4.How did you get started?
As I mentioned above planning and coordinating with all stake holders is how I start. Rest of the time is used in execution of my plans.
5.What do you like about what you do?
My belief is to enjoy work. As they say when you enjoy what you do you never work, you only play. I am passionate about what I do because I believe I am good at it. That applies to both my career in investment and modelling.
6.What do you dislike? .How do you make money or how are you compensated?
I would not call it dislike but it bothers me when people don’t take their work seriously. I like to make my clients feel as if their gain and loss is my own. It makes me sad when some people disassociate themselves from their work.
7.What skills are needed to do this?
In finance one needs to have keen eye. You need to be good with numbers, have sharp instincts and one should be immensely resourceful and organised. Your knowledge gathered from education in the field and years of experience dealing with different scenarios helps you succeed in finance.
In modelling however your inner beauty accentuates your outer ones. Your emotions and expressions are the ornaments you wear in every shoot. Immense patience and love for the camera are must in successful modelling
8.What is most challenging about what you do?
My challenges are to balance between my day job and my hobby. When you are good at what you do, u are pulled from all sides. I am also a very passionate about cooking and decorating my house. To find time to follow these passions of mine are real challenge.
9.What is most rewarding?
In modelling, the end product that is appreciated by one and all is rewarding like an artist you feel good that you were able to deliver and bring attention to whatever your mission was.
In finance , I would say that the happy smiling faces of clients are most rewarding. When you speak to a client , you know you have contributed to their financial well being. That is a reward worth fighting for.
10.What advice would you offer someone considering this career?
Follow your heart. Love what you do. Enjoy your time doing it. Quit pleasing others or becoming stereotype. You have only one life. Might as well spend it doing what you enjoy.
11.How much time off do you get?
Between my job and modelling , there is not much time left. I however steal some days each year to travel. I look forward to exploring different places or visit my folks back home.
12.What else would you like people to know about your career?
I would like people to know and appreciate me for my compassion, love and hard work. I have love for nature and I would like to be known someday for contributing towards preservation of our God given nature.
13.What is a common misconception people have about what you do?
People believe that finance is rough and hardcore business and therefore not suitable for woman. People think my role on financial world does not involve decision making. However 15 minutes with me at my job people get the realization who is in charge. Given my soft nature people find it hard to believe that I am tough at work. Other than that I am an open book to anyone who knows how to read.
