Swati Nanda, Actor and Model from Mumbai. She is the founder of Glitterati Pageants.Her interview are as folows:
1.What do you do for a living?
A professional model turned Actor, Pageant Expert and an Entrepreneur. I debuted my acting career with one of leading shows of Zee TV, have been a face of many TV commercials, short films, music videos and now a part of a professional theare group coming up with its full length English Play across many cities.
I’ve been a part of Top IT MNC, start-up travel and digital marketing companies, worked on AI projects related to chatbots and I’m the founder of Glitterati Pageants.
2.How would you describe what you do.
I’am a person who believes in serendipity. I had never planned this route but I am glad I stumbled upon a few opportunities in my life which brought me here. I started my career as a software engineer, worked in one of the top MNC’s as a software developer and later life took a complete U-Turn when I won a beauty pageant and represented India at Top Model Of The World 2014.
3.What does your work entail?
An artist’s and entrepreneur’s life is full of adventures, learning, meeting new people, theatre rehearsals and recreating life on stage or in front of the camera. It’s a lifelong learning process which changes you as a person. You experience the minute details of life so that you can play that character on the screen. I have been fortunate enough to learn from the best mentors in the Industry.
4.What’s a typical work week like?
I believe any successful person has to be fit physically, mentally and emotionally. My week comprises of, apart being in shoots, seeking for anything that allows me to grow in all these aspects. Be it being disciplined with my gym workouts, my rehearsals, working with my team, reading books etc..
5.How did you get started?
My first ever fashion show was in my college and then later I was a part of fashion show team in my company -Infosys. I got noticed by a top designer in South. My journey started as a fashion model and since then I’ve never looked back.Iv walked for almost all top Fashion weeks of the country including Lakme fashion week..Amazon fashion week and many International fashion weeks like India fashion week- Dubai, Dubai fashion league etc.
6.What do you like about what you do?
Traveling and meeting new people is what I love the most in my profession.
7.What do you dislike?
I dislike being complacent and I dislike arrogant people.
8.What skills are needed to do this?
Be a seeker throughout your life. Go to the roots of everything you take up. As your every project, your every workpiece will define you. Keeping abreast with what’s happening around you and being grounded after you have tasted success.
9.What is most challenging about that you do?
It’s a competitive world but finding out people with similar goals, pushing each other up and growing together. It’s a challenge initially, later it’s on you how you turn it into your strength.
10.What is most rewarding?
When I get to hear that I inspire people to follow their dreams makes me feel really satisfied. I often get messages and calls from my friends from college and it really pushes me more to achieve my dreams and inspire more people around me to pursue their dreams.
11.What advice would you offer someone considering this career?
Be it about becoming a Model, actor, pageant aspirant or an entrepreneur your discipline has to be rock solid. You cannot compromise on your discipline to do anything in your life
12.What else would you like people to know about your career?
Being the CEO and founder of Glitterati Pageants, I really feel I’m giving back to the society what I learnt from pageants. Pageants made me confident. They made me resilient and gave me a never say no attitude. I want to help as many girls to achieve their dreams through my experiences. “I want the entire next generation of girls to know they can achieve anything they put their mind into!”
13.what is a common misconception people have about what you do?
That I am lucky. What people see is just the tip of the iceberg. The hardwork that goes behind is often neglected
