Czech model Jana Kopecká scored in America. What she liked there and what are her future plans? You may find answers to this all in our interview with this beautiful model.
- How long have you been in America and where have you been exactly?
Answer: I flew over the ocean for the first time and I am really lucky that I did, because it has always been my dream but it is not easy, especially when you are going there to work.
I have been exactly in New York for 3 months. I was living in Lower Manhattan, which is great district, but I of course explored the whole city.
- Did you like it there?
Answer: I fell for New York once I came there. Despite my arrival was more “complicated” than I expected. After I came to the airport my agency called me Uber, that should take me to the apartment, but as lucky as I am, I got into the wrong car. I had to beg the driver to borrow me his phone, so I would be able to solve this situation. I bought the American SIM card immediately the next day. The worst on that all was that it was 3am in the morning and I had to wake up people from agency to help me, so I would not end up alone and lost for the first night there. But after I saw the skyscrapers for the first time, I was overcome with sureness that I am going to like it there. This was exactly what I always wanted. Big things, big cities, big business.
- You have succeeded there and you were part of New York Fashion Week. What feelings do you have when you look back?
Answer: This was one of the biggest and most demanding experiences. It moved me forward and opened so many doors in different countries. It was school of a life. The stay was hard, but it was worth it. And, of course, one gets important contacts, gets to know great people and although there were moments when I was really exhausted, I would do it all over again.
- What are you doing now and what are your plans for future? Are you going to come back to America?
Answer: Currently I am in the Czech Republic, where I am staying because of work until the end of May. And then I am probably going to leave again. I am still not very good in staying in one place. I would like to come back to America, and to NYC again but not until September. In the mean time I have offers from Italy, Miami, LA and Peru. I have still not yet decided where I would like to go, but I am mostly interested in working in Miami or Peru, In the Czech Republic I am currently having modelling contracts but I am also working on choreographies, e.g. for fashion shows, gala evenings for beauty contests etc.
- Why Miami or Peru?
Answer: I love countries, where there is a hot weather, beaches, sea, etc. I really dislike cold weather. One of my aims and dreams is to learn how to surf. I encounter with opinions that Miami or LA are in the end much better than NY itself. So as I am curious girl, with heart of adventurer and traveller, I have to find this out by myself, haha.
In Peru there are many of my friends and I consider Machu Picchu one of the most beautiful gifts of nature, so I have to see it. And the fact, that I love Latin American countries – cuisine, music, people, that is no secret anymore.
- Do you plan to keep on travelling for a long time? Don´t you think about starting a family?
Answer: I would like to travel my whole life. It is my”drug” and I don´t ever want to give it up. It is an advantage that my work allows me to do this. Of course that I am willing to have a family one day, but first of all I have to meet a man that would make me thing about this topic, someone because of whom I would want to settle down. This has not happened so far, so it is topic that I am not thinking about at this moment. I am happy that I am healthy, doing work I like and simply I am letting my life flow. I think everything comes in the right time. I may be just a dreamer, hard to say.
- What are your dreams besides modelling?
Answer: I would like to start a business, my own successful company. Unfortunately it is hard to start something when I am travelling so much, often from one continent to another. But I am sure that moment will come one day. I would also like to start my own blog. That is great when you are travelling, but I am kind of lazy, haha. Although I am sure I would enjoy it a lot. I also like writing, but that does not go hand in hand with the fact that I was getting bad marks from essays in the high school. And the craziest dream is to visit all countries in the world in my lifetime. It is definitely not easy, but I can be stubborn, so I hope I can make it.
